About the Book
National Indie Excellence Award Finalist!
Chablis Shields thought “yes” was the hard part. Engaged to John Gerald, the church’s golden boy, she pictured six months of Pinterest-perfect planning and a walk down the aisle straight to Instagram fame.
But reality bites harder than a wedding cake tasting gone wrong.
Turns out, her “picture-perfect Christian” fiancé has a few… let’s say, financial surprises. And his mother? Let’s just say “mother-in-love” is a bit of a stretch. Add in a dash of past trauma, a sprinkle of his exes, and a drone-delivered proposal that now seems hilariously prophetic, and Chablis’s dream wedding is turning into a full-blown disaster.
Can she salvage her happily ever after, or will she trade her veil for a runaway bride moment?

What Are People Saying?
Engaged is a funny, insightful, and definitely non-sugarcoated story of an engaged couple’s journey to the altar. This should be required reading for anyone contemplating marriage.

For Readers
Considering reading Engaged? Here’s a few things to know:
- While Engaged: A Novel is not part of a book series, there are two books that introduce the main characters before this story begins. If you were to read the books in order, the first should be Broken Together (which introduces Chablis at the end), and the second book should be Thick Chicks, which establishes Chablis and the start of her relationship with John.
- When you’ve finished Engaged, you’ll definitely want to read The Honeymoon Journal: A Short Story. Note: the story references a married relationship and romantic intentions between a man and his wife, but the sexual situations are no more explicit than Song of Songs.
